After careful evaluation, MINDWEST Strategies has selected WordPress as the platform for its new corporate website. “We have used a number of Web communications tools over the years,” said MINDWEST principal John Hale, “but there has been a flood of improved Content Management Systems and related Web 2.0 capabilities that we can leverage for ourselves and demonstrate to clients.” WordPress hosts millions of individual bloggers, but also provides the platform for major communicators such as CNN online, People Magazine online and others. “MINDWEST identified a number of high-value platforms to support communications, collaboration, eLearning and marketing,” said Hale. “We will recommend the right tool for the right job to our clients, but right now we will focus on WordPress, Google, Twitter and Ning. We placed a premium on helping mid-size companies to deploy New Media rapidly with platforms of proven depth.” MINDWEST requirements emphasized agile platforms that can:
- integrate online and traditional communication;
- integrate seamlessly with collaboration, eLearning and marketing;
- allow ease-of-use and maintenance without large IT staffs; and
- avoid large upfront capital costs.
“We are looking at our corporate Website not as an ‘electronic brochure,’ which has been the typical paradigm,” said Hale. “Instead, while publishing the necessary and proper ‘boilerplate,’ our site will lean toward current news and collaboration. We will cultivate ongoing dialogue with our staff, partners and clients.”
